I’m writing from the parking lot of West Marine here in San Diego while Jim is making his daily visit to keep them in business. It’s Saturday, February 28 and we’re scrambling to get all the last-minute things done before we leave tomorrow afternoon. Weather here is gorgeous. In the 70s with a good breeze and mostly blue sky.
Recapping what’s happened in the past week, we left Berkeley at noon Thursday, February 19 and stopped in Santa Barbara for fuel then continued on to arrive in Long Beach at 2am Sunday, February 22. We took friends Patti and Jeffrey and their friend Donna out for a motorsail and finished the day at a Carolina bbq. Someone ordered wild boar meatloaf with blueberry gravy (not me!) and the sweet potato fries were wonderful, along with the chocolate cherry breadpudding. We left Monday and arrived in San Diego 2am Wednesday morning. I’ve been fortunate to walk for an hour or more each morning with my friend Tish and her dog Jack while we catch up on our lives.
What I’ve learned – it’s easy to get wifi at Starbucks as long as I’m willing to walk a mile to get there. Also found a good recipe and made morrocan stew.
Amazing view – dophins surfing our bowline at night creating phosphorescence so they looked like neon missiles in the dark water.
Reading – finished “A Fine Balance” which was quite an amazing saga taking place in India. Loved the story and was sorry to leave the characters behind. Now I’m reading “The Memory Keeper’s Daughter” which is an interesting storyline.
