dorado dinner in chamela

journal entry for dec. 21.  up at 6:22am and out of ipala by 6:42.  we're getting faster at all this.  sails were out by 7:15 but the wind dies.  sunrise color is beginning in the sky and the landscape is like torn paper.  jim already saw his first dolphin of the day.  weather is perfect but we're still waiting for wind to sail.  the coastline is one long continuous beach with barren land - it's beautiful in its raw state.  can't tell if there are any roads, i sure hope not to ensure it stays pristine.  CA has lost all of this by building on all it's coastline so it's a real thrill to see so much here.

end of the day on winter solstice and we arrive in chamela at 3:30, anchoring near the tiny town of perula.  our dinghy motor won't start and jim worked on it for hours to no avail.  we'll have to wait until barra to get it fixed.  the hills behind me are pink and the water is purple.  the moon and soon jupiter will show up.  mexican music drifts our way from the local cantina.  5 tiny silver fish skip by on their tails across the water.  surf is a constant background of white noise.  there are 7 of us here.  2 sailboats that have been following us from ipala.  armando came by and offered us a dorado he caught earlier, along with a bag of ice.  jim cooked it for dinner and we dined by sunset.
